At Habiterra, holidays and remembrance days are meaningful opportunities for children to get to know the society they live in, connect with shared values and create warm memories together. We approach each day with content that respects children’s age and developmental stage.
For us, October 29 Republic Day is Turkey’s birthday. We celebrate this special day with children in a joyful way and talk about the values the Republic brings to our culture of living together in language they can understand.
April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day is the very special day Atatürk dedicated to children. On that day, the school truly belongs to the children. We plan together how they would like to celebrate and shape their day with games, songs, sometimes trips and special menus.
May 19 is a day when we remember Atatürk’s trust and hope in young people. We take care to celebrate this meaningful day through activities that include our families as well.
We approach November 10 in a way that considers children’s developmental stages. Instead of rituals that may create fear or anxiety in young children, we talk about Atatürk through his love for nature, animals and life, sharing examples of the value he gave to the environment, living beings and people. In this way, remembrance becomes rooted in inspiring values that beautify life rather than in sadness.
